Title: Machine Learning and Data Mining.
Abstract: This course, a third in the Dragon star data mining course series, will introduce the current research frontier of machine learning and data mining. The course will cover principles, algorithms, implementations and applications. The emphasis of this Dragon Star seminar series is on the intersection of machine learning and data mining.
. To provide students with a good understanding of the theoretical foundations and practical issues in data mining and machine learning . To provide students with knowledge on practical applications of the fields of data mining and machine learning. For example, to learn about how data mining and machine learning play a role in related fields such as Web mining and automated planning. . To give the students some hands-on experience in conducting research in the data mining field, and to provide students looking for research topics to receive feedbacks on their individual research directions.
